Gabbeh Rugs can be traced back to the 16th century and were originally used by weavers to provide decoration and warmth to their tents in remote regions of Iran.
Weavers were inspired by tribal themes and would often include animals or birds. Mosts designs also featured an outer border.
The designs changed slighty as Gabbeh Rugs reached a commercial value and weavers began to sell their creations on local markets before moving into the Global market place as they were sourced by dealers worldwide.
Each piece would still be totally individual until modern times when the designs have been produced using wilton looms. A huge selection of vibrant colours make up each rug and the effects are as eye catching as they were hundreds of years ago.
The Rug Seller stocks a wide selection of Gabbeh Rugs and Hallway Runners in a variety of styles, colours and sizes with huge savings against High St prices. Made in Egypt this collection of rugs features a dense, heavyweight pile and is colourfast, stain resistant and very hard wearing.
